May Big Ideas
Big Ideas In Our Learning
For This Month…
Reading – We are learning to use a variety of reading strategies before,
during and after we read. We are also learning to be text analyzers by looking
at how texts we read, can change the way we think about certain issues and
topics.
Writing – We are learning to add voice to our writing to match the purpose
and audience of our writing pieces. We are learning to revise and edit our
writing to clearly communicate our ideas and thinking.
Oral –We are learning to present in a clear, loud and fluent voice with
eye contact to our audience.
Media – We are learning to understand the features of an App. We are learning to identify the purpose, audience and messages media forms convey. We learning to develop a Math App proposal for a specific target audience and purpose.
Math – We are learning about three-dimensional and transformational
geometry. We will also be taking a look at mass, volume and capacity and how
this measurement knowledge can be applied to our everyday lives.
Science- We will be learning how human actions affect our environment and
ecosystems.
Social Studies – We are learning about Canada’s physical regions and how their
features shape trade and natural resources.
Arts –We are learning to about the elements of dance and performing
mini-dance routines with the elements that we learn.

Welcome to May!
Dear
Families,
Welcome to May!
It is hard to believe
that May has arrived! This month will shape up to be a busy one, as we have two
field trips to attend. We will be going to York Region’s Water Festival and the
Burlington Outdoor Education Center. These experiences will further extend our
science knowledge in a hands-on manner.
In this class update newsletter, you will
find important information about our class and the big ideas in our learning.
As always, if you any
questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school or write
me a note in your child’s agenda
Looking forward
to another exciting month of learning,
Ms. Chung
